Techie Club includes 40+ hours of hands-on, interactive activities tied directly to national technology standards for 3rd – 6th grade students. The lessons focus on a variety of computing topics, promote 21st century skills and provide students with an awareness of technology and STEM-related careers. This program was created with support from the American Electric Power Foundation.
"Techie Club is more than a club...it's an educational adventure. Techie Club affords our students the opportunity to foster a love for technology, dream big, meet great mentors and plan for a successful future in the 21st century workforce." – Rhonda Peeples, Principal
"As a volunteer it meant so much to me and my colleagues to watch these kids light up with enthusiasm. The end of each weekly session came much too soon for both students and volunteers. We loved the experience so much that we look to double the number of students and volunteers that work with the TECHie Club program in the coming school year." – TECH CORPS Volunteer
Being a TECH CORPS volunteer brings an opportunity to serve as a role model and a resource for elementary, middle school and even high school students. You are able to introduce and equip these students with the technology concepts and skills that are necessary for success in today’s classroom and tomorrow’s workplace.
Last year, TECH CORPS volunteers and programs directly impacted more than 800 students. Through their interactions with TECH CORPS volunteers, these students began to make connections between the technology they love to use and the educational and career opportunities associated with the creation of this technology.
With your support, we will realize our vision of a technologically literate society in which all K-12 students have equal access to the technology skills, programs and resources that will enrich their education and allow them to successfully compete in the global workforce.
HERE’S HOW YOU CAN HELP:
